Haircut “under the pot” is now experiencing a new birth – it is considered one of the most trendy. This haircut appeared on the catwalks a couple of years ago and caused a lot of mockery: few believed that such a strange fashion could become popular.

However, today the haircut “under the pot” (or simply "pot") is very popular in our barbershop network and other men’s barber shops.

Haircut under the pot – the history of the hairstyle

Historically, this is a completely Ukrainian haircut that got its name according to the technique. Centuries ago in Ukraine, men’s haircuts were performed as follows: a pot was put on the head, and all the hair that protruded beyond its edges was cut off – as a result, a completely neat head came out. The name of the process fully reflects its essence – it was called "getting a haircut under the pot".

Much later, a modification of this haircut appeared, which was called “under the bracket”. Here the hair from the sides of the head was cut to the middle of the ears, and the bangs to the middle of the forehead.

During the reign of Peter I, the haircut “under pot» was popular in certain layers of society – among Old Believers and peasants; that is, at that time it was considered far from the most fashionable and was associated with something outdated, irrelevant.

A haircut of this shape is also known in other countries and she has many names. For example, this is a bowl cut (bowl), or a mushroom. In some countries, similar haircuts had their historical roots, somewhere this fashion came in a new twist – and they adopted, adapted for themselves the Russian name.

Technique of performing the hairstyle “under the pot”

The “pot” variety is now in fashion. in a short form with straight thick bangs. On the top of the head and the back of the head, the hair is cut so that its length coincides with the bangs – this gives the same pot effect.

A sharp edge looks more impressive, but it is more difficult to maintain such a haircut in an ideal form, it loses its shape faster. The “pot” looks very interesting, made in several layers – with proper styling, the unusual architecture of the haircut is particularly noticeable, it can become one of the key details of the image.
