What is beard edging

Essentially, edging is defined as the clear contours of the beard, selected in accordance with a man’s facial features. Edging is mandatory, regardless of the type of bristles. Thus, there are 3 main lines that emphasize the correct design: 

• neck;
• cheeks and cheekbones;
• place under the lower lip.

Correct contours of the beard

If you have decided to design the contours of the beard yourself, you must have at least a minimal imagination and understanding of geometry. Your task is to mentally draw a line, then shave the hair along it, to create an even and identical edging on both sides. 

• To begin, you need to mentally draw a line from the outer side of the sideburns to the mustache – everything above it must be cut. The formed line can be left straight, or you can make it slightly concave towards the neck – as you like.
• There are no problems with the contours of the beard either. Again, you draw a line from one ear to the other, after which everything that remains above the line is shaved off. It is best that the line stretches above the caddy. If you are the owner of a long and thick beard, there is no point in edging at the neck. 
• The area under the lower lip also requires attention. Depending on the shape of the beard you choose, you should either shave it all off or leave a straight line parallel to the lip. The essence of the process does not change – you mentally draw a line, after which you work with trimmers.

The process of creating a beard border

Special skills, as you already understood, are not required. You only need to have the appropriate hairdressing tools in your kit: 

• three-dimensional a mirror that allows you to fully inspect the treated area;
• trimmer;
• wood comb;
• thin, perfectly sharpened scissors that will help you create an impeccable shape;
• a dangerous razor that will help remove excess hair;
• cosmetic products used during and after shaving.

To do everything neatly, organize high-quality lighting in the room where you will work. 

Before starting to shape contours – wash, dry and comb the hairs. An important rule is to work with an exclusively dry beard. Draw a border in your mind. If it is difficult for you to imagine lines in space, use a cosmetic pencil. Select the excess length and cut it. Do not be afraid to remove hairs – run the comb along the teeth in exactly one movement. As a result, the remaining facial hairs may still be visible – use a trimmer and remove them.
