Men’s conversation: a special project of Maincream & Hairdresser Varbershop

We invited four men who are passionate about their work to TsirulniKbarbershop to have a real manly conversation with them, and at the same time test the services of the salon.

Our heroes are young entrepreneurs. They are successful, have an active lifestyle and are constantly developing. Dmytro Stretovych, Vyacheslav Shestakovskii, Andriy Ostapchuk and Oleksandr Slavinskyi told Maincream about their attitude to men’s beauty, women, alcohol and business rules.

I have a simple approach to beauty. The main thing is elementary self-care: brush your teeth, cut your hair, shave.

There is no such thing as male beauty, male happiness. Charisma and character make a man handsome.

I get a haircut once a month and go to the sauna once a week.

Playing sports helps me develop myself, specifically football.

Three years ago we opened the Center for Literary Education. During this time, they managed to expand to three cities: Kyiv, Lviv and Kharkiv. Over 80 projects have been carried out.

Literary activity rests on two options: either write or publish books. I chose the second option.

Pabulum is a niche publisher of non-fiction literature about intellectual and creative development. Our target audience is the creative class.

One of our main tasks is to give Ukrainian authors an impetus to create a Ukrainian product.

Pabulum is translated from Latin as food for the mind.

I follow the classic management rules, and the main rule of our team is see the goal, don’t see the obstacles.

For me my intuition is more important than anything – any business plans and calculations.

Later, we came to the conclusion that if there is no spark at the beginning of a new project, it should not be implemented.

During the first year, we need to clearly build the structure of our publishing house, establish sales of goods and find our readership. As for TSO, there are plans to go abroad. We will do literary tours in Poland.

According to others, I am an adequate leader. I can calmly admit my mistakes if they are explained to me.

There are never any conflicts in our team, because we all share the same idea.

. I bear the final responsibility, but each member of the team has a certain autonomy in their actions.

I am interested in building a star team in which each member can develop.

Dmytro Stretovych

Love to different alcohol invent traditions.

For me, the best reason to drink something alcoholic is meeting with friends and loved ones in a sincere atmosphere, so I love the most whisky and wine. These two drinks are at their disposal until revelation.

Personally, for me, there is a classification of male and female alcohol.

My business partner, Ira, says she’s a feminist, but her feminism is quiet, so I’m fine with her. And if no jokes, then I have a absolutely normal attitude towards everything, including feminists.

In my life there are no problems related to this movement, although I give myself the report is that the world is not limited to my life and maybe there are problems somewhere on this ground.

There are 7 people in the CLO team, of which I am one man>. This is not the policy of HR, but it just happened by itself.

There are working nuances in any team, regardless of whether it is male or female. We have arguments, but they never come to a conflict.

I like girls with a bright appearance and an ambiguous character. Such girls are interesting to conquer, and we, men, love it and plus you are constantly surprised by her.

Topic of work number one. In any manifestations. With old acquaintances, we often remember old stories, discuss news.

There are no taboos with close friends. These are just the same heartfelt conversations about everything in the world.

I am absolutely sure that a man should look after himself. In my case, it turns out that I’m being pushed into it, since I’m quite lazy in this regard.

Usually I go to the hairdresser when I start getting comments: “Dude, and you’ve already grown a lot! “.

I trim my beard when it becomes inconvenient to eat.

When I worked in the office of a large company, I did manicures. It was important to me then. Now I work in a field where I won’t be scolded for unkempt nails and hair.

I have beard wax, hairspray and face cream. I myself hate smearing their faces, but I’m always in favor if my wife does it.

I left my full-time office job and a seasonal job came my way. At that time, one of my acquaintances was selling ice cream, and I decided to help him take this business to the street. After all, our people are used to eating ice cream on the street. This is how we launched the Umka street ice cream project.

For four years of our work, we came up with the concept of a cafe. It became like a continuation of the festival part of the project. People at festivals often asked us where they could find us in the city. These questions convinced us that the cafe is a true vector of business development.

The latest innovation of “Umka” is home delivery of ice cream. We are currently recruiting couriers who will handle this important mission.

Also, we are planning to open a second cafe, as we have a very small area, and we can no longer comfortably accommodate all our guests.

My main rule is to never cross the path of competitors. A positive factor is what pushes you forward, when there is a competitor, it is good.

The second rule is not to deceive the people you work with. The person who works for you is also your business partner, the better he works, the more he should earn.

I try not to shout and yell at my employees, but sometimes it happens, I can’t stand it.

Without complete confidence in something, I will never make a final decision.

Vyacheslav Shestakovsky

At a certain period of his life he liked beer. I still love it, but I don’t drink as much as before.

A person constantly receives a huge amount of stress, and alcohol is one of the means that will help get rid of them quickly. But you should understand that you exchanged your health for a relaxed state or a fun evening.

Many people say that Ukrainians have problems with alcohol, but in Europe and America they drink no less. It’s just they have a different attitude towards booze.

It is believed that prosecco and champagne are women’s drinks, but I think our girls can drink stronger drinks, just like men can drink champagne in peace.

The two best ways to get to know a stranger is to tell a joke or have a drink with them.

Now I give it is preferable to drink gold or black rum and a Dry Martini cocktail (martini with vodka – ed.).

You have the freedom to say whatever you want. If a woman thinks that all men are goats, please, but it does not apply to me.

I would not say that the trend of feminists is gaining massive momentum. If we consider the influence of women in society, for example, women politicians, athletes, then it is absolutely normal that they appear in greater numbers than before. But this does not change the fact that a man is a protector and breadwinner.

If women start feeding men, it will slightly skew our position in the world.

Most my colleagues are women. Very rarely with them conflict situations arose on feminist grounds.

My girlfriend is my good friend and interlocutor, who also will listen to me and give me some advice when needed.

A woman can make decisions in the family, but it is better that she give them as advice. She must be wise.

I can count on my fingers the moments when we discussed sex with friends. It is a stereotype that men most often talk about cars, girls and sex.

My friends are the best “sponges” that can absorb information about the events of my life.

Often we get together as a group of four and just discuss our life situations.

Almost never discuss our appearance and fashion.

We try to develop the habit of not looking at mobile phones while we communicate with each other.

Earlier, a man came out of a cave and followed a mammoth. Hair on his chest, beard and head were necessary for him not to freeze. Today, a modern man should go to work with a nice haircut, styling, a nice beard or be clean-shaven. In today’s world, he makes money in a different way, and appearance also plays a role here.

First of all, I get a haircut in a barbershop. Firstly, it lasts longer than a regular salon one, and secondly, it has a clear geometry.

I also do the royal shave procedure, which compared to daily shaving has as many as 9 advantages.

Now the classic undercut haircut, pompadour, like Elvis Presley and Brandon from Beverly Hills, flattop are popular among men.

Fashion for the now popular shaved sides, as well as beards will disappear when there are already too many of them.

My cosmetic arsenal is limited to hair wax and beard balm.

I learned about barbershops from the 2002 movie “Barbershop”. I liked the fact that they don’t have salon snobbery, but a pleasant, almost homely atmosphere prevails.

In 2013, the first barbershop was opened in Kyiv. I liked the idea, and I decided to open my barbershop in Brovary.

I became interested in the topic, wrote a complete business plan and started looking for a partner. At that time, it was already 2014, the war with Russia, the unstable exchange rate of the dollar. My colleagues and even my mother and grandmother did not believe that anything would come of this venture. But a partner was found, and literally a month later we opened the first barbershop Tsyrulnik’ on the Independence Day of Ukraine.

Then I spent a year collecting money for Kyiv TsirulniK. Now we can serve 8 men at the same time.

You have to be a leader, you don’t have to be a boss to be compared to you. Being better is my main rule. To be a friend to someone, maybe a brother to someone, and a whip or gingerbread to someone – to have your own individual approach to everyone.

During two years of work, I realized that is too close to people’s hearts you can’t let it in.

By the end of the year, we are opening a manicure, pedicure and massage salon in Kyiv TirulnyK.

Globally, we are planning to enter the international market : Poland, Austria.

Andrii Ostapchuk

Before opening the barbershop, I had never tried whiskey. For me at that time there was only cognac, vodka and beer.

On the weekend I skip another glass of whiskey with soda.

Irish classic whiskey is now my main preference in alcohol.

I divide alcohol into men’s and women’s. We even launch women’s liquor in our barbershop for our customers’ girlfriends who are waiting for their boyfriends.

If women in the whole world occupied at least half of all management positions, then there would be half as many wars.

I am for equality between women and men.

I worked in a women’s beauty salon. Women have their own world, and men have their own.

Working with men is easier for me. I can predict in advance what he wants and what his actions may be in this or that situation. You need to be a woman to understand a woman.

My favorite should have big open eyes that show peace and grace.

Most often we talk about work, money, aspirations, politics, life in Ukraine. Already when we have a good drink, we can tease each other about women and family relations.

There are no prohibited topics in my company. But we don’t talk bad about each other and our families.

A man should be clean, tidy. Some people still have a stereotype that a man should be more beautiful than a monkey, but this is complete horror and echoes of the Soviet Union.

I don’t go very often in salons I have the opportunity to monitor my appearance at home. My first education is in art, so I can see what I’m doing, I’m used to my trimmer, and I can trim my beard to the right shape.

It takes an hour to sit in the salon, and I can’t sit still for an hour. I get tired after half an hour.

Manicure should be done more often, but again, you need to find time to make an appointment.

I love natural cosmetics. I don’t have shaving foam, I don’t shave my stubble off completely.

I have a lot of essential oils that I love. I take a bath with them, use them in the bath.

I get dizzy with hair masks. I can even mix honey and egg myself.

I roast the grain myself. He received specialized education from an American specialist who came to Ukraine. There are still very few such people in Ukraine who could teach coffee science. Their units.

My first experience was not good. Six years ago I had to close that project. Then I started participating in festivals.

When you work in a coffee shop, you feel the dynamics. Now I devote all my time to the second cafe “FINE”. By the way, in addition to the coffee shop, there is also a bar, a showroom, and there will be something else, but for now it’s a secret.

The series of Fine People meetings is a separate story. At first I wanted the coffee shop to be associated with those people who came to these meetings. Now I have also created a Facebook page, maybe one day I will publish the book “FINE 100 People” or create a festival of good people. All because I like to listen to people.

Getting to the top from point A to point B was not easy. It takes a lot of effort.

I am learning to be a proper businessman who does projects without letting them die.

I am preparing to expand my first establishment. There are thoughts and a desire to scale this project.

I need to understand the habitat and the work I am doing very well. Otherwise, I may misdirect the audience and it may not work.

Compromising with yourself is very bad. Things I want to do, I never give up. In such situations, my faith is unwavering and I will go to the end.

I try not to make promises because I might not keep them.

I try to understand the problems my employees, because they have a life besides work.

I am a demanding manager. I understand how it should be. Sometimes I myself can forget to do it, but that doesn’t mean that at the moment I’m right and I shouldn’t do it anymore. I guide and lead, not do everything myself.

Aleksandr Slavinsky

I love flavors: good whiskey, an interesting combination in cocktails, a kind of food pairing.

Especially drinking on holidays and on occasion is not about me. A holiday for me is when I am satisfied, then I can bring this joy of satisfaction into the world to any person.

I have no purpose to drink when it is bad or when it is good. Everything tastes good to me.

I try not to divide things into men’s and women’s. This also applies to alcohol.

A person as a person is more important to me than a man or a woman .

Most likely, today two feminists are real, and 50 others are not. It has to do with enthusiasm. The psychological factor and the action of the crowd come into play.

Disagreements happen with people, not with women. People’s problems come from people, not from men or women.

Anyone can cause trouble in this world: a crazy feminist, a rabid skinhead, and anyone. They’re just people who sometimes don’t have everything right.

You can’t describe a girl with her head because it’s not in her head.

Love at first sight it’s a goldfinch, a spark – it exists. Once, and the roof can collapse on you, but that does not mean that you need to rush from it.

Relationships are built on friendship, and it is not created quickly.

Not everyone needs to get married, be a man. It is much more important to realize yourself, to bring joy to yourself and carry it on. This makes more sense than following the lead of society.

I talk about the things that interest me – this is coffee, business, rarely family.

Depending on what the company is, how well I know them or don’t know them.Sometimes I can’t talk until asked, and sometimes there are things I can’t help but talk about.

I am learning to listen to people.
